John trained as an Architect at Oxford School of Architecture in the mid 1970's. After spending some time working as
an Architect in both public and private practices, John joined the Building Construction Industry working as a Design
Consultant and then as Chief Company Architect for several major PLCs including Ibstock Brick and Redland. On
moving to France in 2002, John realised that there was the potential to create stunning "Gems" from the large
number of unrenovated period stone properties that could be found in the Charente Countryside. He now manages
Charente Gems on a day to day basis and in his spare time sketches in pen and ink and plays Guitar once a month
at his local Cafe-Bar in Gourville. John is happy to take your telephone calls on 00 33 624 874 996

Property Company, Charente Gems sarl, was registered in early 2004 by Husband and Wife Team John & Ann West.
The Company based its working methods on a Key Business Principle. Providing
quality renovated properties, that while giving the highest standards and facilities
demanded by modern life, also fully respected the local traditions and background of
the timeless Charente Region. The adoption of their logo, in French .... Rénovation

Ann has a wide ranging background in Art and Interior Design and assists in the running of Charente Gems. Since
arriving in The Charente she has developed a unique range of stone sculptures using the local natural limestones
of the region and now offers a bespoke service to clients both French and English.
